HWSA Construction Implementation Working Group
The HWSA Construction Implementation Working Group (CIWG) was established to consider a wide range of national standards and codes relating to construction that have been declared or are being considered by the Australian Safety and Compensation Council (ASCC). These include:
- National Construction Standard;
- National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work;
- National Code of Practice for the Prevention of Falls in General Construction;
- National Code of Practice for the Prevention of Falls in Housing Construction; and
- National Code of Practice for the Safe Handling of Tilt–up Wall Panels and Concrete Elements in Building Construction.
The role of the CIWG is two–fold:
- To facilitate the consistent implementation of construction related Standards and Codes that have already been declared; and
- To identify any issues or barriers to implementation while construction related Standards and Codes are being drafted, to ensure consistent and unproblematic adoption of the Standard or Code once it is declared.
Senior representatives from each State and Territory will comprise the CIWG, including a representative from the Office of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council, to ensure open communication between the Commonwealth and the States and Territories.
